Clip Contest Rules
- The contest is open to all MNPA members in good standing who also
meet one or all of the following criteria:
- The member is a resident of Minnesota.
- The member, sometime during the contest year, worked at a
newspaper that circulates in Minnesota.
- The member is a Minnesota-based student.
- Entries must be clippings or tearsheets and may be from
any publication except MNPA publications. Enter a 5X7 print
that is signed on the back by the local wire service bureau
chief. These two requirements must be followed to the letter.
Entries for each quarterly contest must have been published
during that quarter. For example, first quarter entires
must have been published in January, February or March.
- No names of photographer or affiliation
may appear on the front of the entry.
Entries are to be unmounted and trimmed
neatly from the page.
- Each
entry must be the work of
a single photographer. If
two or more photographers
combine to produce a layout,
each may sumbit only the
pictures he or she took.
- There
are
nine
categories:
- News
- Feature
- Sports

- Sports
Feature
- Portrait/Personality
- Pictorial
- Illustration
- Photo
Package
- Photo
Story
- On
the
back
of
each
entry
must
be
the
following
information:
- Category
- Photographer's
name
- Name
of
publication
- Complete
street
address
of
publication
- Entry
title
- Date
of
publication
- Phone
number
- Entries
must
be
recieved
by
the
clip
contest
chairman
by
the
15th
of
the
month
follwoing
the
end
of
each
quarter
(for
example,
January
through
March
photos
are
due
April
15).
The
chairman's
name
and
address
are
available
in
the
newsletter
or
from
MNPA
board
members.
- Layouts
will
be
judged
as
a
single
entry.
Individual
pictures
from
a
layout
(or
photo
packages)
may
also
be
entered
separately.
- The
judges
are
to
disreagard
size,
reproduction,
color
and
layout
to
the
fullest
extent
possible.
