It's a different perspective. You can relate to the feeling of the photo.

it. Very clean. Third: Won by default.

Nun"

Motion blur was a plus and composition added bonus.Third: A simple
country road setting.

have been done by photographer or the design desk. Great thinking by
the photographer.

Typical sunset (or sunrise) photo, but aesthetically pleasing.
PHOTO PACKAGE - (22)
- Renee Jones, "Principal
for a Day"
- Ingrid Young, Duluth News Tribune, "End of School Year"
- Carlos Gonzalez, "Home
Opener"
Judges' Comments: This category was not the weakest, but
ranked second to last. On several entries, pictures in final publication
were redundant. First: It's a solid glimpse into a child's life. Layout
was strong. A tight edit helped. Second: A simple two-picture photo
package that explained the story.Third: Covered all the bases (pun intended).
Formula shooting, but good.
PHOTO STORY - (10 )
- Justin Hayworth, "A
Grand Finale"
- Renee Jones, "Recipe
for Sweet Success"
- Christina Paolucc, "Learning,
Living at Longfellow"
Judges' Comments: First: Another clear winner. Story
was written by the photographer and design was strong. The pictures
were wonderfully composed. Second: Laid out well. Photographer made
a boring subject into a visually interesting subject. Solid work. Third:
Dominant photo killed the whole package.
